Should We Be Unhappy About God?

When we think of holiness we often picture a somber person, a solemn scene, or perhaps someone abstaining from much of life. There is some truth to that, but there is something very important - holiness is linked to joy. If you're going to live a life that's holy, then you better live a joyful life - the two go together. A life of true holiness will lead to blessing, peace and joy. It's joyful to be holy. Holiness is joy. Joy is one of the fruits of the Spirit. It's the fruit of the Gospel's good news. When you hear good news, the result is joy. Some believers think, "I'm miserable but at least I'm holy." But you can't be holy and miserable because God is joy. So it's good to be holy. Should we be unhappy about God, about salvation, or about the fact that we're not going to hell, but we're going to heaven? No! Remember, God is good. Be happy about it - rejoice, be glad, be blessed and be thrilled. The secret is out. It's holy to be joyful.
