The Cathedral of Milan has three arches through which people can walk. When you pass through one of the arches, you see a beautiful wreath of carved roses with the words, "All that which pleases is but for a moment." The inscription is conveying that the pleasures of this world are but for a moment. Over the second arch is a sculptured cross with the words, "All that which troubles us is but for a moment." It's saying that all the problems and pain you're going through will likewise pass. The final words for the third, great central arch are, "That only is important which is eternal." Archways are structures that you pass through. Like the archways so too is life, it's something you pass through. All of your problems and worries will pass, they will not be with you forever. In the same way, all the glory, glitter, and temptations of this world too will pass. So use your one life on earth to serve God. Because in the end, only what you have done for Him will last. Make your life count - forever.
