For Dealing with DarknessrnIt says in Isaiah 9, "The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death, upon them a light has shone." In Hebrew there are two different words used concerning darkness: halach, for walk and yoshev for dwelt. From yoshev we get yeshiva, the name of schools where religious Jews study for yoshev which means to sit down, to dwell in, to remain and to live, to abide. It's one thing to go through darkness, it's another thing to yoshev and to sit or abide in darkness. We might pass through it, but we are not to sit in it. It's one thing to be knocked down and another thing to dwell in defeat. It's one thing to get angry but another thing to dwell in bitterness. For the child of God, darkness is something you only walk through. You never take your seat or dwell there. Keep your eyes on the Lord and the light, because you're one who doesn't sit in darkness but who overcomes it as you walk through it to the sunrise.rn
