Philippians 3:20 says, "For our citizenship is in heaven from where we also wait for a savior." The picture alluded a people living in a foreign land or colony but who are citizens of another land. Thus they were to be living according to the laws of their home country. In the same way, you are living on earth, but you are of the colony of heaven. You are a citizen of the heavens, just as the synagogues throughout the Roman Empire were colonies or enclaves of Israel, so you are living your life in an enclave of heaven, a colony of heaven. Wherever you live, it's an outpost or commonwealth of heaven. Thus you are to live according to the laws of heaven, not of earth. You are a citizen of heaven, so live like it. Don't be bound by the laws of the flesh or laws of this world, but be bound by the laws of heaven. Therefore, your life will be known as an outpost of heaven.rn
