Leaving the Land of Or

My sister and her husband were correcting one of their daughters, and my sister said, "Young lady, are you going to do this or not? Yes or no?" To which my niece replied, "Or." "Or? What are you talking about, yes or no?" She said, "I choose 'or.'" Totally rebellious, but clever. Strange, but not really so strange because we do the same thing. The Lord says to choose. If Baal is god, choose him. If the Lord is God, choose Him. So often, we don't choose yes or no - we choose or. We don't totally give up the old, but we don't fully say yes to God either. We go back and forth or we straddle. We don't make up our minds. We live in the land of Or. Abraham had to leave the land of Ur as Abraham's children, we have to leave the land of Or. No more ifs, ands, or buts. Do what you have to do because you're going to be blessed the moment you choose to get out of the land of "or." rn
