The Disciple And The Rabbi's Word

Imagine Messiah giving the Sermon on the Mount, and afterward, the people on the mount begin critiquing it: "What did you think of His Sermon? The part about the lilies of the field made me feel good. But when He said that if you lust, you're committing adultery; I don't agree with that. And that part about plucking out your eyes, He could have been more positive." It sounds crazy, but if someone came in today and preached exactly what Messiah preached, we would have our opinions, critiques, and problems with it. We do this with the Word but in a different way. When we ignore His Word, when we don't obey it - we're rejecting it. If you are a disciple, then you must receive and follow His words. Don't compromise, mix, dilute, soften or shorten them - take them uncompromised, at full strength, submit to them and follow them. For the Lord didn't come into this world to give nice sermons or make us feel good. He came into this world to save us - and to give us the blessing of a changed life.rn
