The True Spirit-Filled Walk

Often believers get discouraged; allowing their emotions to go to big highs and then crash. They often think that the Spirit is the high. But spirit in Hebrew is "ruach." And ruach also means courage. The Spirit is the courage to go through the valleys and still persevere, rejoice, and hope. The Spirit-filled life is not characterized by ups and downs. God has not given you the spirit of a yo-yo. II Timothy 1:7 says, "God hasn't given us a spirit of timidity, but of power, love, and discipline." The Spirit-filled life is to be characterized by the power to overcome discouragement. The Scriptures repeatedly tell us to take courage. A sign of the Spirit-filled life is one who overcomes his or her fears with encouragement and zeal; one who is not overcome by obstacles, but overcomes them with courage. So if you're dealing with problems; you're down in the dumps, in the valley, or wilderness. Live like a Spirit-filled person. Take courage and rejoice anyway. Fight the good fight anyway. Because that's the Spirit. In fact, that's the Ruach.rn
