The story of Hanukah was about a war - not only the war of the Maccabees against the Syrians but ultimately the war of God and Zeus. An idol of Zeus was set up in the temple of God. It was an abomination of desolation. There's a big difference between Zeus and God. Zeus was a touchable idol. His worship was carnal, filling the senses. But the Lord was not a visible object. He couldn't be felt. His worship was spiritual; of the Spirit. The Feast of Hanukah is uniquely linked to the end-times, and it gives us a clue about the end-time culture. The end-times will likewise be a war between the carnal and the spiritual; the ways of Zeus versus the ways of God. The culture of Zeus says, "If it feels good, do it." But we are never called to feel God. We are called to know God. As God's people, we are to live by faith, not by sight. Don't live by feelings. Know Him, believe Him, choose Him, and stand in Him, because you are not of Zeus, you are of God.rn
