The Hopeless Eastern God

Eastern and New Age religions rest on the premise that God and the universe are the same Thus, according to eastern thought, we are all one with the universe. In fact, we are the universe and God at the same time. It might sound encouraging, but it's actually the most dismal news you could hear. If God and the universe are one - then there's no hope. If you're the lifeguard and you're drowning, there's nothing left to save you. If God is us and we're messed up, then there's no hope. You can't seek help if you're the help; you're the answer, yet, you're the problem. But, we are not God. We are not the center of the universe; in fact, we are sinners. And that's good news because if you're not God, then God exists beyond you, and He's not messed up. And then you can be saved because there is a lifeguard. So whenever you feel overwhelmed by life, just remember you're not God, but there is someone who is, and with Him, there's hope. There's a way out. Just call on Him because you do have a lifeguard.
