Seeing Your Greener Grass

Human nature says the grass is always greener on the other side. In other words, what you don't have, always looks better than what you do have. But it's an illusion. The grass on the other side looks greener only until you get there. Scripture says something different in Proverbs 5:15, "Drink water from your own cistern, and running water from your own well." In other words, rejoice in the blessings God has already given you and don't focus on what you don't have in your life. The people who are fulfilled are those whose focus isn't on the grass but on the well. The grass is on the outside. A well is about the inside. Joy comes from within; from the things of the Spirit, and the wells of salvation where the waters never end. A life of joy and fulfillment is about finding the well you have right now, drawing from it, and being blessed continuously. So stop dwelling on that grass on the other side. Start dwelling and drawing from the well that is right there on your side of the fence; the wells of salvation.
