While in prison for his faith in Romania, Richard Wurmbrand received each day a crust of bread and ration of water. He remembered the Lord's admonition: when you're persecuted, rejoice, for great is your reward in heaven. So he started rejoicing, dancing to the Lord. One of the guards saw him, and thinking he'd gone crazy, gave him an entire loaf of bread. Wurmbrand thought to himself, "How true! I rejoiced, and great was my reward! So he danced again, but this time he didn't get any more bread. Messiah said when you're persecuted, rejoice for great is your reward. Whatever you're going through, rejoice, because you're more blessed than someone who has billions of dollars, but doesn't have what you have. You've been saved from hell. You have eternal life and eternal joy. Whatever the problem is, whatever the persecution, whatever the hassle, the conflict, or whatever thing you're concerned about, rejoice and be blessed. For great and much greater than that is your reward in heaven, and sometimes even on earth, a loaf of bread.
