Shannah is the Hebrew word for year. 'Shannah' comes from the Hebrew "shinay", which means "two." So the word year in Hebrew can also be translated as "the doubling", an increase, an addition, an abundance. So the apostle Simon Peter wrote that it's not just whether you have the qualities of God in your life, they must be increasing. What will you do with this year? Increase in God. It's not enough to have love, but you need to have love that increases, peace that increases, joy that increases, faith that increases. And we're called not only to increase, but to double. The Lord doesn't just want you to have joy, He wants to double your joy. He doesn't just want you to have love, but to double your love. He said, 'I came that you might have life and have it more abundantly." So don't worry about what the year will bring. It's a "shannah." Use it correctly and you'll not only have life, but you'll have it more abundantly, in fact, you'll have it double.
From Message #433 - Shannah
Choose one trait or fruit of godliness and set this day for growing, increasing in that trait. Also set the coming year for increasing in God all around.
