THE GREAT DICHOTOMY

We are standing at a most critical and unique period in American history.
The rise of Donald Trump took almost everyone by surprise. Many Christians felt that a man whose life had, in many ways, exemplified non-Christian values could never be used to oppose the nation's moral and spiritual decline and fall.
But, in many ways, Trump's presidency has been more of a surprise than his candidacy. His first act as president was to issue an executive order overturning the pro-abortion stands of his predecessor. His words, actions, and policies have been consistently pro-life more overtly than perhaps any president before him. He has likewise been strong and uncompromised regarding religious freedom. With regard to Israel, again Trump has defied expectations. He became the first president in American history to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel - actually the first leader of a major power in modern history. His presidency has already seen two Supreme Court vacancies and thus the chance to shape the judicial future of the nation for a generation.
But with all that has taken place in America's political realm in support of biblical values, there has been no major revival in America, no major turning back. The nation's mainstream culture remains as anti-Christian as it ever was - or worse. The promotion of sexual immorality in the media, in the legal realm, in the commercial realm, in the realm of entertainment, and in public education continues unabated. Christians are increasingly mocked, marginalized, and vilified. Every year, more Americans declare themselves to be not Christian at all. The fastest rising religious group is that made up of those who have no religion at all. All polls and studies concerning the next and future generation show a generation and a future that embraces an anti-Christian view, morality, and mindset.
So what is going on? The same thing that went on in the days of ancient Israel. When I wrote "The Paradigm", I saw Trump's biblical prototype in the man known as Jehu. Jehu was an unlikely figure. A man who had not lived a godly life, yet was used by God to stem the tide in the apostasy and fall of Israel. He provided a political revolution, and thus a period of time, a chance for revival. But as far as we know, the revival never came.
If America does not see revival and repentance in this period, then its apostasy and fall will continue and accelerate - which will function as an anti-biblical wine working to burst the nation's political and remaining Judeo-Christian wineskins. The pressure of this growing great dichotomy will ultimately become explosive.
Therefore, we must all the more pray and seek God for revival. We must all the more, labor for salvation and live our lives all out in revival. Let us commit to that this month. And may God greatly bless you as you do!
