The Predestined Dice

The casting of lots in the Bible is a manifestation of the principle of chance, the rolling of the dice, randomness, as if everything is out of control. Life often seems like that, out of control, happening by chance. And you wonder where God is in all of it. When Messiah was crucified, the Roman soldiers cast lots for His garments. They cast lots, the principle of chance, everything out of control. And that's is what it looked like. Messiah is being crucified, the Son of God is being killed, evil is triumphing and good is being crushed. Where's God in all this? And yet, the amazing thing is, even the casting of those lots was part of God's plan. It had been prophesied a thousand years before in Psalm 22:18 "They cast lots for my garments." So too for your life. Even when things look out of control, and you can't see any purpose, know that there's nothing out of control. God will cause all things to work together for your good. For His hand of love is there, even in those problems, just as in the casting of the lots.
