Near the Fourth of July was the turning point of the Civil War. Upon General Lee's order, the men charged across a field as Union soldiers shot bullets and canon fire. Thousands of men were killed or wounded. The Confederate Army left Gettysburg shattered. But as the grey-uniformed soldiers retreated, they heard General Lee saying, "It's all my fault, boys." It's a poignant moment in American history, but also a display of something special. For greatness isn't found in always being right, but rather, when you've made a mistake, being able to confess it and repent. Lee's "It's all my fault," was a display of a kind of greatness. When God's saints make mistakes, they confess and repent of it. You can't grow if you don't take responsibility for your actions, confess your sin, and repent. If you want your life to change, you can't change until you can say, "It was my fault. I was wrong." That's the beginning of taking responsibility for your life; repentance, change, growth and blessing follow. Learn from Robert E. Lee. Greatness in God begins with the words, "I was wrong."
