The Methodist War Against Israel

Its members include Hilary Clinton, John McCain, and Rick Perry to name but a few. It's the Methodist Church. The church which traces its roots back to the evangelism of John Wesley, now has a new mission - not to preach the gospel of its founder, but to wage war against the nation of Israel. The Methodist Church is now committed to seeking the economic crippling of Israel by cutting all economic ties with the Jewish state and pressuring businesses to do the same. It is already discussing targeting and boycotting such companies as Motorola and Hewlett Packard which do business there. Has the Methodist Church ever considered boycotting nations or governments which practice mass killings, ethnic cleansings, persecution of Christians, genocide? Never. The only country which incurs its rather is the sole true democracy of the Middle East, the tiny state of Israel. Nor is the Methodist Church alone in its anti-Israel actions. Another mainline Us Church, the Presbyterian, is also considering an anti-Israel divestment plan to boycott major companies based in Israel. Last November, the Presbyterian Church held a conference in Louisville where it adopted the "Kairos Document" which rejects the existence of Israel and labels Israeli security policies as a "a sin against God." At the conference, the Jewish right to the land of Israel was declared "invalid." The Presbyterian journal, Church and Society¸ ran an essay declaring Judaism as "a blood-thirsty primitive religion." The liberal World Council of Churches has also called for a campaign of divestment from Israel and a boycott against companies which does business there. How can church bodies, founded on faith in the Jewish Messiah and on the Scriptures of Israel, turn their focus toward crippling Israel, while calling for no such campaigns against nations and governments which routinely suppress, oppress, persecute, and even murder their own people? The answer is, they do so out of the same spirit which has come against the children of Israel from ancient times until now. It is a satanic spirit - the spirit of anti-Semitism. But how could it happen to churches which rest on the foundation of Messiah? The answer is - it hasn't. These same churches which have taken up this "crusade" against Israel are the very same churches which have also by and large diluted, adulterated, nullified, and rejected the Word of God. It's no accident. The two things go together. If you can come against the Word of God - then you can come against the people who gave you the Word of God - Israel. Once you depart from the Word of God, the light of God, then you open the door for darkness and for the influence of the enemy. It is no accident, the two facts go together - as does a third fact - all these same denominations are in spiritual decline, shrinking, dying. What does it reveal to us? Guard your relationship to the Word of God. Never let it depart from your mind and heart, never go a day without receiving it, pondering it, acting upon it. The Word is not only a lamp unto your feet but a protection against darkness. If entire denominations can fall so radically from the truth, so can individuals. Guard the Word in your life and the Word will guard your life itself.
