Chanukah is a famous word; but few people have any idea what it means. It has nothing to do with presents, with the fun or games. Chanukah is the Hebrew word for 'Dedication' and that's what Chanukah is all about. That's why when you read of the Feast of Dedication in John 10, it's really Chanukah. But Chanukah is not just about Dedication - it's about Rededicating the temple after the temple has been desecrated and given over to idolatry. For God's heart is to rededicate the fallen. That's what the Lord did with David and Peter - after they had fallen. He rededicated them to His purposes; and that's what He does with you. Good news - God doesn't just dedicate the holy, He dedicates those who have been defiled but who come back to His grace. So it doesn't matter if you have been defiled or even just wasted the years of your calling. Come now to His presence. He will receive you. He will cleanse you. And, He will rededicate you to His purposes and use you as His sacred vessel. For God is not only the God of Leviticus, He's also the God of Chanukah.
